How to create BUZZ.
Did you know the Michelin Guide wasn’t about fine dining at all?
Back in 1900, André and Édouard Michelin (yes, the tire guys 🚗) created the first Michelin Guide to get people to drive more—which meant more tires, more demand, more sales. Brilliant.
They gave out 35,000 free guides packed with maps, tire repair tips, AND lists of restaurants, hotels, and gas stations across France.
The goal? Get folks out of the house and onto the road.
Not because they loved food.
Because they loved selling tires. 🛞
Fast forward to today—brands are still showing up in unexpected ways.
Pantone (yes, originally a chemical company!) launched their Color of the Year for 2023—Viva Magenta—by turning two full floors at Art Basel into a glowing, immersive dreamscape. Designed by Artechouse Studio, the space cost $1 million and feels like walking through a living mood board. Texture. Sound. Emotion. All rooted in one bold color. 🎨
As I sit here in Atlanta, I’m fired up.
Inspired by tires and magenta.
Thinking about how we—at terra alma—can keep building spaces that feel magnetic. Not just pretty spots to snap a selfie (though those are fun too 😉)… but places where people actually want to slow down, connect, and be present.
Let’s keep creating spaces worth gathering in.
Phone down. Heart open. Community first. 💫
